Welcome!

Sam, Katie, and Sara-lab partners extraordinaire- had talked for a while about making a chemistry-themed blog with their awesome chemistry-related experiences. One day they were reminiscing about playing google docs tag (chasing each other with their cursors in the spreadsheet) and after that nerdy memory they decided it was about time to go for it.

Welcome to the epic adventure!
Share your chemistry knowledge. Share your life. :)

National Lab Day: The Results!

National Lab Day was awesome! We were expecting around 60 students to come, and we ended up having about 175 students plus 25 parents. 200 people!!! All enjoying a Saturday morning filled with chemistry!

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who helped out! You did an incredible job of running all the demos, conducting lab tours, making liquid nitrogen ice cream, registering people, shepherding kids around, etc. We could not have done it without you!

Here are some photos so you can get a taste of what the event was like: (more are in the Y Chem display case :) )

We are definitely planning on having this event next year. For those of you who participated, we would love your feedback so we can make it even better the second time around!

National Lab Day

This Saturday, May 15th, Y Chem is sponsoring an event to celebrate National Lab Day (nationallabday.org)!

We're inviting all 5th-12th grade to come see some demos, tour a few of the labs, and complete 2-3 experiments themselves, all in an effort to increase kids' interest in science (especially chemistry :) )

Important Details:

Date: May 15th
Time: 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Location: W140 Benson Building
Cost: Free!

This is a great opportunity for students to get some hands-on, real lab experience. If you know of anyone who'd be interested, pass the word along!
